The MC-1S  Series is a dual spindle burnish / glide / certification system designed to provide maximum throughput over the widest range of media test conditions. With two spindles per tester, the certifier is designed to optimize the initial capital investment, yet deliver exceptional throughput.

Burnish and Glide software selectable modes include spiral or step and repeat operations.  These tests can be conducted in Constant Linear Velocity or Constant Angular Velocity modes.

Certification uses a  quad-read channel capable of testing media requiring write frequencies of  up to 100 MHz.  Employing two positioners per spindle for certification and fast stepper control, the MC-1S achieves exceptional throughput in a highly versatile and cost-effective package. The MC-1S uses 25,000 rpm crash tolerant air bearing spindle.

Spiral or Step and Repeat certification modes utilize drive compatible heads. Thermal asperity characterization is also provided by an algorithm that measures differences in successive peak signals. Grading software is included for disk sorting by user-selected criteria into multiple grades.

Test sequences are easily created and modified by utilizing the graphically based test editor. Production and engineering modes operate within a Windows based environment complete with a full menu of analysis tools for R&D and QA applications.
